Beyond “Why?”: The Purpose of Spiritual Inquiry

Human beings naturally ask, “Why?” Why was the universe created? Why was the mind created? Why does suffering exist? While many questions can be answered through reason and experience, some belong to the realm of Divine Mystery.

Wisdom begins when the search for endless answers becomes the journey toward inner realization.

This is because the human mind itself is a product of creation and therefore cannot fully comprehend the purpose behind its own origin.

A sincere seeker eventually realizes that intellectual inquiry has its limits. We may understand how bondage arises, how suffering operates, and how liberation is attained, but why the Divine created creation in the first place remains a Divine Secret.

The purpose of spiritual life is not to solve every cosmic mystery but to understand and wisely utilize creation. The body, mind, intellect, and nature are instruments given for inner evolution.

A person using electricity need not know why electricity exists. What matters is knowing how to use it properly. Likewise, we need not know why the Divine created the universe. What matters is learning how to use this human birth to transcend suffering and realize one’s true nature.

The seeker who remains absorbed in asking, “Why did the Divine create this?” may remain in endless speculation. The seeker who asks, “How can I use this creation to realize my true nature?” moves toward realization.

True spiritual wisdom does not lie in uncovering every secret of creation but in making the highest use of what has already been given. When the mind finally dissolves, the need for answers also dissolves. What remains is not explanation, but absolute peace, Chivam.
